Indoor Plant Names

Plants are essential in Feng Shui. Lucky plants, when placed strategically in front of the house or in other areas of your home are believed to bring good fortune and wealth, especially to business owners. However, if you’re living in a condominium in Manila, Philippines like myself, chances are you would not have enough space to accommodate outdoor plants, so the best option that you have is to get lucky indoor plants in your bedroom.

The good news is that there are many ornamental plants in the Philippines that are readily available in Manila – and many of them are considered lucky by Feng Shui! Here are the names of eight lucky indoor plants to bring fortune and wealth to your homes.

Lucky Indoor Plants Names

1. Money Plant aka Jade Plant (Crassula Ovata)

The Money Plant (not to be confused with the Money Tree Plant) is also known as the Jade Plant. This succulent plant is considered lucky because of its round, coin-shaped leaves. Money plants are ideal for newbie plant-parents because they are practically low-maintenance and easy to grow.

2. Money Tree Plant (Pachira Aquatica)

The Money Tree Plant’s most recognizable characteristic is its slender, braided trunk. This braided pattern is believed to bring financial freedom and good luck. Howeverm this unusual shape does not occur naturally, because these are shaped while the plant is still young. Money Tree Plants are perfect indoors because they don’t need direct sunlight and can happily grow in bright areas of the home.

3. Lucky Bamboo (Dracaena Sanderiana)

I normally see Lucky Bamboo plants in office spaces because they are usually small and easy to place on your work desk. The feng shui properties of the Lucky Bamboo plant is determined by the number of stalks that it has. For instance, a single bamboo stalk can mean prosperity for business owners. Two stalks may help double your luck. Three stalks symbolize wealth, happiness, and long life. Five stalks bring luck to five different aspects of your life (emotional, spiritual, physical, mental, intuitive). Whatever you do, avoid four stalks of Lucky Bamboo plants because this draws in negative energy.

4. Rubber Plant (Ficus elastica)

The round leaves of the Rubber Plant are believed to bring prosperity and wealth (not to mention that the leaves look pretty too!). The rubber plant naturally helps purify the air indoors, so that alone already helps keep your home free from negativity.

5. Orchids

To be honest, the pretty flowers is already enough reason for you to have orchids in your home. The fact that they bring luck to family, love, and relationships is a nice bonus. They are believed to bring the most luck in finding love, when placed strategically inside the bedroom.

6. Peace Lilies (Spathiphyllum)

Peace Lilies are some of the most popular plants to keep indoors because of their natural air purifying qualities. They don’t need much sunlight, and can pretty much survive even in shaded areas of your bedroom. They are believed to bring good luck, harmony, and fortune.

7. Snake Plant (Sansiveria)

Just like the Jade Plant, Snake Plants are succulent plants but instead of rounded leaves, they have long, sword-shaped leaves. They are also popular indoor plants because just like peace-lilies, aside from being bringers of good luck, they also purify the air around them.

8. Spider Plant (Chlorophytum Comosum)

It appears that air-purifying plants tend to be the ones that are considered lucky! It makes sense if you ask me, because you would generally be in a better mood and have a clearer mind when the air around you is fresh. The Spider Plant, just like the Snake Plant and the Peace Lily, is one of these air-purifiers that are considered lucky and believed to bring good fortune. They are perfect indoors too because they require less frequent watering, and thrive even in artificial lighting.

Lucky or not, I believe in the benefits of having plants indoors – whether they are succulent plants, ornamental plants, or even small herbal plants that you can use for home remedies. Having some natural greens in your home would instantly put you in a good mood, and the air-purifying qualities of these indoor plants should help you have better mental focus and improved health.
